Her father’s been in prison for 11 years.
Her mother doesn’t want to go to church anymore and works every day grinding corn for tortillas.
Her two older brothers were in gangs and subsequently killed.
Her two younger brothers don’t want anything to do with the church.
Her older sister has a child out of wedlock and is now in prison.
Her three year old sister, the youngest of the family, was fathered by who-knows-who?
Yet Rut, who will be 18 on May 29th, is different. Rut gave her heart to the Lord when she was nine and hasn’t looked back. Rut goes to church. Rut reads her Bible. Rut prays. Rut studies accounting and desires to go to Bible school.
Rut’s grateful that we’ve helped her go to the Christian school by the Tracks and that we’ve rebuilt her house and that we’ve helped her have braces for her teeth and that we’re helping her with college to learn a profession.
Although her family’s gone astray, Rut has chosen to be different.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will. Ro.12:1
Pictures…I’m with children of a new church we have begun this year, doing a craft to show how an ugly caterpillar turns into a beautiful butterfly. Damaris leading praise and worship in our new church.
Thanks for your prayers and support!
