Dear Ministry Partners,
It’s obviously been awhile since I’ve written. As the saying goes, “Life happens.” Since I have spoken with many of you in person, I’ll just summarize here.
My first year back in the U.S. was filled with tears and laughter, work and play times. After spending a few weeks in North Dakota to visit my brother, some friends, and some cousins, I returned to San Antonio to begin the process of finding a place to live.
In August through November, I participated in several training opportunities, including training for FriendSpeak volunteers, the Texas State Literacy Conference, and the National Disciplemaking Forum in Nashville. I concluded my search for an apartment and moved in three days before Thanksgiving.
After discussions with the Community Minister at my church and a few others, I began planning an English as a Second Language program, to be hosted at the church, and created website for the ministry. Last spring, we began with our 10-week Square One program for advanced beginners. We have now completed the second week in our nine-week Basic ESL program. We also have our first FriendSpeak reader ready to start next week.
It’s taken awhile to get this Language Ministry started, but it’s going now. We’ll make adjustments as we go along. I’m enjoying being back in the classroom!
Thank you for your support over these past years. Please continue to pray for my students and me.
With love from San Antonio,
The Lord replies, “I have seen violence done to the helpless, and I have heard the groans of the poor. Now I will rise up to rescue them, as they have longed for me to do.” -Psalm 12:5
