Honduras & Working with Immigrants
At the age of 47, Star Ferdinand went on her first mission trip to Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Four years later, the words ….“Your heart is in Honduras” echoed in her mind as she wrote in her journal, “I’m not ready to move there permanently, but I definitely want to spend more time there.” On June 9, 2011, at the age of 55, Star moved to Tegucigalpa.
After teaching English to teenagers and adults at Iglesia Misionera de Cristo in Tegucigalpa for several years, Star returned to the USA to work with immigrants. Following the Lord’s leading in 2018, she helped her home church, Westside Fellowship in San Antonio, begin a FriendSpeak conversational English program for immigrants and international students who speak English at the intermediate to advanced levels. Star is now preparing to establish a FriendSpeak ministry in another part of San Antonio and hopes to help churches establish the ministry in several areas in the city. This is the first stage of a multi-stage plan to aid immigrants in San Antonio.
Star also hopes to return to Honduras periodically on mission teams to continue helping the people of Iglesia Misionera de Cristo.
I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me. -Romans 15:30
