Theuns and Karin Engelbrecht are partnering with Foundation for Missions-USA and are the directors of Foundation for Missions-Southern Africa.
Theuns and Karin are currently setting up and developing the office in Cape Town, South Africa.
This will give them a better platform and infra-structure to work and minister from.
The founder and president of Foundation for Missions, Steve Beam, is a longstanding personal friend of the Engelbrechts.
Engelbrecht Ministry Background
Theuns and Karin Engelbrecht have been full-time, cross-cultural missionaries in the Southern Province of rural Zambia for the past 19 years.
Their main focus was to TRAIN, EQUIP and ENCOURAGE local, indigenous Church Leaders (inter-denominationally) to fulfill their God-given calling on their lives. They built the Komena Christian Training Center in the Sinazongwe District, where leaders received Biblical and Skills Training. The School was handed over to an indigenous Church Ministry who continues with training.
The Engelbrechts initiated and supported various other projects and programs such as Jesus Film Evangelism; Church planting; Leadership Training; Orphan Baby Milk and Nutrition Support; a Primary Health Care Clinic focusing mainly on children and babies under five; a Sewing Program for Widows; an Orphan Education Support Program; a Mercy Ministry Program to mention a few. Through their years of ministry they trained up local people who are now continuing with these programs on their own.
Six years ago they opened another Mission Base and set-up a “Foundations for Farming Model” to serve as a visual demonstration and training facility to local small-scale farmers in the area.
Roots for Life:
Theuns and Karin are now looking at a next phase in ministry and missions whereby they want to “consolidate” their past experiences into a “Holistic Solution” called ‘ROOTS for LIFE‘.
Their experience taught them that, in general, older generations find it difficult to change their traditional approaches, convictions and beliefs and that the most effective change in coming generations, will be to concentrate more intently on children.
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not turn from it.”
ROOTS for LIFE Project is seeking to partner with churches, missionaries, Christian NGO’s and Christian Schools, especially in rural communities of Sub-Saharan Africa, who have a desire to see the Kingdom of God manifesting in the lives of children, giving them ROOTS FOR LIFE!!
ROOTS for LIFEProject has three main areas of emphasis:
Agriculture (Well-watered Gardens) & then expanding to small Livestock (Animal Touch Farm). (Based on conservation methods of Foundations for Farming)
Health & Nutrition Education (Healthy Hester)
Evangelism & Discipleship (through the Heart of Man Chart)

The benefits are multi-facetted:
Children will learn stewardship, faithfulness and responsibility for God’s Creation from God’s Word.
They will practically work in the Well-watered garden and grow their own vegetables.
Vegetables from the garden can help supply nutritious meals to feed the children during school days.
Surplus can be sold and the profit ploughed back into the garden/school
By introducing “Healthy Hester” to the children, they will learn WHY they need nutritious food, healthy eating habits, how to apply basic hygiene to everyday life (washing hands/brushing teeth etc.)
The Heart of Man Chart is published by All Nations Gospel Publishers in Pretoria. They have used it extensively as a very effective Evangelistic and Discipling Tool. The Chart is a visual aid which uses pictures of animals etc. to depict the state of the Heart of Man before, during and after Salvation.
Partnerships are vital to the effective development and progression of any organization, institution or business. In Missions, it has the added component of interacting with the wider Body of Christ by creating an “inter-dependence” amongst them.
No one organization, institution or church has all the answers or resources within itself to fully accomplish God’s vision to establish His Kingdom here on earth.
As the Apostle Paul so aptly says:
“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.
So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.
He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor.
For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.”
1 Corinthians 3:6 – 9
By connecting and working together we can have a greater impact for God when we…
Share a Kingdom Vision and lay aside the smaller differences that divide us so often, for the greater good of establishing GOD’s Kingdom and not our own
Support and encourage one another morally and through prayer
Raise funds for projects
Are being an example to the unsaved world, of true, biblical Christianity as we work together as THE BODY OF CHRIST.
Thank you for your partnership in missions. Together we can make a difference!
